Heads done no worries, but block ? Isnt it cast ? If the timing case is alloy i can see merit but block ? Really ?

Cool ill take that on board and double check my surfaces no worries but i was kind of wondering if any special gasket prep material/liquid/paste may be required for such style gaskets ( mls )

what do you mean 'isn't it cast' of course it is, the head is also cast...

gasket prep is both surfaces need to be dead flat. gasket seals on the block and the timing case, if there is any sort of step between the 2 you will have a oil leak

He also means the timing case should be bolted to the block when decked, so they're both the same height. It should be normal practice but I've heard bad stories.

Ok thanks i appreciate the answers

Still learning hang in there with me

So i have a S14 bottom end with a warped head, will a s15 vct head fit ?

As i have gathered the s13 red top does not fit my s14 bottom end = check

My s14 has vct std = check

Stop reffering to red/black tops and use "s" = check

Ok one more question

After the milkshaked sump of oil from the head gasket going boom , how is the best way to flush all the old oil/coolant out of the engine ?

Iam thinking multiple fill/drop/fill/drop's of cheap oil but thought id ask if a proven method will work

fill with oil and coolant drive to there and back a few times - drain oil, drop pan replace gasket refit pan after inspection and clean then refill with fresh stuff.

for the cooling just do a few water flushes till clear water comes out and refill with coolant
