What tools do you use everyday?

Recommended Posts

Compressor. Save you a bunchhh of time. Or you could just stick with the good ole' cordless rattle guns.

Actually yeah a good multi meter would be a great idea, any specific brands you guys would use?

Fluke. I think I paid around $350 for mine tho.

Why pay so much?

You can buy a $30 Dick Smith one that does everything you'll ever need. Most features are never used anyways. I've only ever used DC volts, Amps, and the temp probe on mine, and I use it probably nearly everyday.

Extra leads, with aligator clips or probes are like $10 a pair.

Cause I use it at work, a $30 dick smith multimeter wouldnt cut it. I agree it would be a bit of an overkill for working on your car tho.

well so far I've managed to come up with a pretty decent / expensive tools list for me to waste my pay cheque on this weekend haha

Rattle gun

head lamp

multi meter

new torque wrench

breaker bar

maybe new 1/4" sockets

and if I've got some money left I'll get a wire stripper and crimper

who needs savings anyway right? it's all about the bottemless pit that is a nissan

oh and last thing I'll need is about 1 million zip ties haha

Wire strippers are a waste of money, just be a man and use side cutters

This is what we have at work, they're called stripmaster. I only use them when I have to strip like hundreds or thousands of wires. They are not cheap though, although you can get cheaper knock-off versions.

At least someone agrees with me thanks Truck, I do hundreds of wires working on speakers and computers all the time.. not sure why I haven't bothered buying a new pair yet, probably just laziness on my part

Mmm I love wire strippers! A sparkies best friend!

For some reason I always have one in my car lol. Can't go anywhere without it!

I used to hate them, thought side cutters were so much better, then I used one for the first time and loved it lol

^^ I think mine is even bigger. Working on a 4wd sometimes you need a serious breaker bar.

Been back and forth from the tool shop heaps this week. Fixing the misses car. I've already got a good 1/2" & 1/4" socket set, plenty of spanners, ratcheting spanners. But I needed a good pair of long nose pliers. I ended up buying a nice big tool box on wheels...... It's hard to not blow heaps of cash buying tools u dont really need.

^^ I'll second that, I went out last weekend and bought some of my tools, ended up getting a head lamp, a breaker bar, some new pliers and a screw driver set. Looked at a few air compressors and rattle guns but ended up not getting one. but I could have very easily just spent every cent

If you know how to strip wire properly you don't need wire strippers side cutters are just as quick and easy. I never used to be able to strip wire for shit but got an auto elec apprenticeship now do it everyday and bitches cream when they see me strip wire now :thumb:
