BMW E30 Coupe - SR20DET Conversion - Germany + Japan = AWESOMENESS

Recommended Posts

Very nice build man. I was tossing up for a long time on what engine conversion to do, and have opted for an LS1 in my e30, which is currently being put in.

I can only imagine how happy you were to finally get it done and drive it out of the shop for it's maiden voyage.

I like how you've de-badged it completely (removal of BMW badges), and has actually now made me want to do this to mine.

I haven't sussed the webz yet, but is there any guides on it? Or did you just tear the f**kers off, bog it, and paint it? As the car is in the workshop and I won't be getting it back for a while, I haven't even had a look at how the bmw badges are mounted.

Been a while!!

All this stuff was just installed:

- Big Brake Kit

- Engine Cover

- New Motor - Fresh import 122,XXX K's

- Black door trims

- Custom made stainless steel 3" exhaust - Fisher performance - wasnt impressed with their service but honeslty the exhaust is a work of art!

Shark Cheers man, it's great to have it on the road, and has been a lot of fun in the wet we've been having.

I would love to see an LS powered E30 - If I had my time again I wouldn't do a 2 liter.... I would source a 2J or LS. Would love to see some progress on yours if you don't mind sharing.

Another update.

My front apron was butchered a little to fit a larger intercooler when the engine conversion was done.

Got a smaller intercooler and had Cory at SA Weldworx (he's on facebook) make up new piping and mounts for it. He also welded up the areas that were previously cut.

He was great, seems honest, price was fair, and he got it done on time. He is building up a relatively new buisiness and seems to know the value of treating people right. I'd recommend him.

Now my factory chin spoiler will clip back into position, I just gave it a fresh coat of paint and will chuck it on soon.

Feels surprisingly much more responsive now with the smaller cooler. I also re-configured my EBC, running 10 PSI all day every day and really enjoying the car now.

and YES gay wheels will be gone soon and new wheels going on... finally. Stay tuned.

And just because this is my thread and I can, here are some shots.

Wheels are 16 x 7.5 front and 16 x 9.5 rears, not sure about offset.

Trying to post more pics but getting a "no file was selected" error every time for a few days now - anyone else had this issue?

still can't upload any images here, nor to imgur - i guess no point to continue with the project now that I cannot update this thread.....

Must be a firewall thing at my work.

They must not want us to do this kind of thing at work.

CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!

Hahhaha yeah I remember mate :) was not a fun time for either of us!

The only other wheels I considered were TE37's and Watanabes

RPF01 and Buddy clubs are not really me

For something like a turbo, something mechanical, I would buy genuine.

For something like a wheel or an intercooler, I would buy what works and spend the extra $$$ elsewhere.

As you can see, I got a lot more to do yet.....

Still can't upload!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
