WPI and boiling water

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, if you mix WPI powder with boiling water and then add milk, does it have any negative impact on the protein? My gf just made herself a protein shake and this is how she did it... It had never occurred to me before... blush.gif

I have only been able to find speculation on the interwebz...

Couldn't honestly tell you. You turning your protein shakes into Hot chocolate? lol

Why not put the milk in before the boiling water to reduce burning the powder...

I think her motivation was to get a more even mix rather than to have a hot choc protein shake, might be good for winter though...

Heat denatures protein,

Deantured protein is broken down into easier assimilated peptides...

Its like saying, can i cook my meat i dont want to ruin the protein... The reason we cook food is because of this denatured effect, you can see it happen the muscle fibres become stringy.

If anything it would make digestion better.
