hey just gathering your thoughts on what you all like better? i like both a lot and there are positives and negatives with both. i like the s14 because you can keep it stock bodywise and just run it real low and good offset wide wheels and car is complete bodywise. plus it has 5 stud already and better brakes. 180sx and s14 are roughly the same age, although you can get newer s14s, however i think i like series 1's better. 180sx looks better in all forms, but would only look good with type x kit and lights. so having it low could bring about more attention from cops, which is why i favour the s14 in that way. can have it lower without giving it away that your car is LOW! is the s14 sr20det better than the one in the 180? ithey are the same as type x aren't they? and also another bad point about the s14 is most have a few kms (roughly 150,000kms and above) whereas 180sx has lower k's but car can be older. just worried about wear and tear on suspension. the s14 chassis is apparently better than the s13/180sx chassis too and no HICAS like a few 180s have! and the gearbox is the strongest s14 gearbox but on a car that's done 150k kms i dunno. Would insurance be cheaper because the s14 is ADM? but if anybody in here has had both a 180sx and s14 i would like to hear from you regarding what you like better and why?

Flame suit is on for those who are going to flame me but i just ignore you and wait for the genuine helpful comments! cheers guys!

so your saying s14? do they handle better than 180's? based on looks i would pick 180sx. but based on sensibility i would pick s14. due to the 5 stud, bigger brakes and less exterior mods to have to do to it.

yeh man 180sx is awesome. but never driven an s14 or been in one before but for the money it just seems so worth it. same prices as 180s these days.

too many people have 180's there everywhere get a s14 and mod it up to be a unique s14.

s14 for sure. wide track as well, better geometry, sleeper appeal.

haha of course u would vot s14 lol. well u have a 1j in yours so thats like 100 times better than sr20det. but yeh kinda feel weird buying a s14 with around 150,000kms on clock. may have to go interstate and look when i get around to buying one. dunno 150,000kms just seems pretty high.

s14s will tend to have 'higher' km cause nearly all were sold in australia and havent been wound back..

but for me 180 interior/exterior any day over s14s (tho i do have s1 love ;) ), hot with a CA lip, hot with SR kit and subtle lip, hot as type x, interior makes me feel as if im in japan and in a sports car

S13 interiors have really started to age, feel like the dash was assembled in a Dick Smith's "Funway to Electronics, Vol II" kit.

The seats and trim were also gettin to me in the 13's. The S14 ones, properly maintained, still gives a clean modern feeling at least.

I chose for my third car the S14 over the S13 based on cost, km's (not year as both can be the same), facelift (design of 1994 rather than 1989) inconspicuity, engineering and mechanical updates.

s14! better suspension setup, 5 stud, better brakes, t28, vct, better interior, newer (except for type x's), still the same range of aftermarket support as the 180, not as common. plus, they were aus delivered, so slightly cheaper on insurance, and you can still get stock unthrashed ones.

if it is s14, it has to be s14a for me. also like everyone says better brakes, 5 studs, newer

if it is the 180sx, it has to be the 96 and above with the tail light upgrade and the new interior.

but after owing a 180sx i wouldn't mind trying a s14a afterwards.

lol never believe a grey import odometer.

I think the 180 looks better but if I was to buy another car it would be S14A just for the fact they are a bit newer and they run the 5 stud and better brakes. Less to do to them.

between a s14 s2 and a 180 i would pick a s14 s2 if it was a s14 s1 vs a 180 i would pick the 180

agreed.

if its souly cosmetic. then the 180 is a much better looking car.

but the fact that upgrades that go in to my 80, ie brakes and things like that, come out of the s14. would make it an efficient move to buy the s14 instead

but i would ONLY buy an s2

These are two cars that i could never hate.

i was in the market for either at the beginning of the year, and only settled on a 180 because one came along at a very nice price first.

looks wise i think that either (if done properly) can look tuff as f**k.

and i used to be a series one hater, but after seeing a few around that look badass, i have to say that my mind has changed

dayammmmnnn that's a real nice buy. but here in SA currently there aren't many good ones. that's ok though. patience is key. like the series 2 but dont want to run a kit as it will be too low / look to low to the police whereas i can get it lower with stock aero and look sweet! low, wide and flush!

well exactly what you said. pretty much the only reason i want an s14 more is due to the mechanical upgrades that i would need to do to the 180 that come standard with the s14. dont mind the s13 interior. kinda like it better. well the dash anyways. seats need to be bride anyways! lol. but yeh a chassis built in 89 as opposed to one in late 93. longer wheelbase too so better handling apparently but yet to drive one. i just remember my old 180 being a sweet ride in terms of handling! power was crap as it was stock CA turbo basically.

For me it's either the 180 or an s15, not really a fan of the s14 looks wise, however the series 2 s14 front is fkn sex, so I put one on my 180 :P

In terms of what handles better blah blah etc, just depends how you set it up, you can set any car up to be half good, just depends how much you want to spend
