loz 20 Posted June 25, 2009 Hopefully everyone on here is well aware that scammers (usually nigerian) exist on the net, with the sole purpose to try and take your money. It has recently come to my attention that unfortunately they are now targeting the classifieds section Thankfully they are easy to spot, and i doubt anyone will actually fall for it : KNOWN DODGY NIGERIAN SCAMMER EMAILS (SO FAR) : morganpberloz@yahoo.com morgansper@yahoo.com chemberlozels@yahoo.com am interested in your vehicle advertise on http://www.nissansilvia.com please get back to me with your last asking price and the present photo > Hi Morgan, > > If you are keen to come look at the car please call me on 0433 249 339 > > Regards,> loz Thanks for your mail, i appreciate your reply when I received your mail ,it is quite understanding . and clear i am highly interested on your property,(vehicle) kindly confirm your last asking price of your vehicle,.Hope to hear from you soonest. hope the property is in good condition ,please i would have prefer knowing your last price to avoid low price offer from me, becouse i dont know how much you are selling ,now confirm your last price ok thank and have a nice day ,happy to do good business transaction with you. bye. ways to spot a dodgy scammer : - poor english / grammer - shows little interest / little knowledge in what you have for sale - talks mainly about money - refuses to meet to inspect the thing for sale - tells you how they want to pay. (Usually western union or other online wire transfer, but recently i have even seen PayPal scammers.) i ask that anyone that has received an email like this, please post immediately in this thread, including their email address! (so that we can blacklist them)
whyte 8 Posted June 25, 2009 just curious loz, how would he scam you & take your money if he is the interested person in buying the car? or maybe what he is going to do is get all ur details, list it up for sale over seas somewhere & ptetend its his and that the buyer has to pay a deposit to get it shipped over. loz 20 Posted June 25, 2009 another example, same scammer different user : morganpberloz@yahoo.com Hello nather, we have concluded, making the payment Thanks for your email and update on the bottom price($10,000),it was accepted by my clientand he has directed us to issue payment to you. I would need your assurance that the property whose payment we would start processing,is in a good condition as the only view our client had of the vehicle was on the internet and this purchase is hinged on his personal judgement of what the property's state and output would be like,in comparison to models of its category. However,he made out a certified cashiers check of($15,000) before he travelled for a conference, for a previous vehicle and its shipment charges etc,but it wasunfortunately sold. The amount on the check he deposited for the vehicle is bigger than what should be paid to you now, so the check is now meant for the total expenses which includes the purchase of your vehicle ,its pick up from its present location and the shipping charges/other necessary shipping arrangements. However he has instructed us to bikery on with this transaction. So when payment gets to you, you're required to deduct the cost of your vehicle ($10,000) and send the balance of($5,000) to my client shipping agent to enable him offsett shipping charges/arrangements. Once the transaction is concluded, My client shipping agent will be coming for the pick up of the vehicle from its present location, on an access to a prepaid shipper for shipment, and also conclude other necessary shipping arrangements. So you dont have to bother yourself about the pick up and shipping rrangements, while title papers and other necessary documets will be sent by you via fedex courier . Please Confirm this and provide (1) NAME (2) CONTACT ADDRESS AND CONTACT PHONE NUMBER(s) for check payment to be delivered to you via regular mail immediately , please remove the add of the vehicle from the internet to avoid complications from other buyers

i want a silvia 7 Posted June 25, 2009 ways to spot a dodgy scammer : - poor english / grammer - shows little interest / little knowledge in what you have for sale - talks mainly about money Well, if these criteria are anything to go by, most PMs I receive about stuff for sale advertised here are scammers...or typical NS.com members! kustom 1 Posted June 25, 2009 what happens is, they pay you 15k. you send the car, they withdraw the 15k. i forgot how they withdraw but they do it somehow... either way loz is right, it's a scam. if they spoke proper f**king english they would get a lot more people :/ -- that's usually the biggest give away
loz 20 Posted June 25, 2009 they look like they put 15k in your account. you legitimately send them 5k... they cancel the transfer of 15k.... you lose your money.... generally thats how it works....

nisskid 670 Posted June 25, 2009 ways to spot a dodgy scammer : - poor english / grammer - shows little interest / little knowledge in what you have for sale - talks mainly about money - refuses to meet to inspect the thing for sale by that logic, 95% of ns users are scammers ud think they'd invest a bit of time in getting the english right in a generic email they send to thousands of people. chris268 1 Posted June 25, 2009 they look like they put 15k in your account. you legitimately send them 5k... they cancel the transfer of 15k.... you lose your money.... generally thats how it works.... here's how it works... - they tell you they're interested in your car. - then they tell you they'll buy your car but need to send you an amount in excess of what your asking for. usually it's some bullshit reason they try to jazz up and make believable. - they will then either tell you they're going to send a cheque or a paypal payment to you. if they send you a cheque, it'll bounce (obviously). if you agree to paypal, they just make up a fake receipt and tell you there's some delay because of such and such and the funds will be in your account within a few days. - they then tell you to deposit the excess amount to usually a western union account. if you do so, you'll never hear from them again. other ways to know you're dealing with a scammer... - they RARELY ever contact you via telephone. - they will never provide you with their landline or mobile - they will always use free email accounts... hotmail, yahoo, gmail etc. obviously there's more communication and f**king around but that's the basic outline of what happens. beware y0! nisskid 670 Posted June 26, 2009 isnt it just automated though? so if u reply, you will just get a automated response back assuming that ur interested. honestly ur probably better off not replying at all, if they have a way of logging data regarding replies etc, then it will show that no one is replying from this site, and they will move on. I knew it was a scam so I asked for her 'clients' actual address and her actual address, thinking this woul;d be the last email I would receive. She gave both address, and one was her 'company' located at an address in the usa. Upon research of the exact address, it come up exact in a google search. Of a share trading company, nothing to do with the company she was claiming to be part of. Eg/ a vehicle finding service company for her 'client'. I also noticed she is also on board an aircraft carrier in the gulf while writing to me from the US. Hrmmmm, what a multitasker!

DRIFTKID 0 Posted June 28, 2009 That is a shame for your client. Unfortunatly i do not hold a bank account so i am going to need you to take the cheque to an authorised westernunion money transfer establishment If you give me your location i can find a place for you to save you the trouble. If you can not make it there for some reason i see you have access to the internet and you can organise a transfer on their website very quickly and efficiently at www.westernunion.com/ Once this is under way i will return the amount requested. This way is far faster then waiting for cheques in the mail. I can guarentee your client will not be dissapointed with the car it is very fast and even comes equipped with a dildo for a gear knob so you can both go and f**k yourselfs!
