Rx-7 s6 Or Silvia ?

Wanted to know whether i should get a rx-7 s6 or a nissan, whatever, s14 s15 180..

Gotta make a decision by lets say 2 months time. :lol:

Whats thinkin ? :huh:

Haha, like i said ive still got a max of 2 months.. i know the fd, im also on ausrotary.

 

My mates got a type X and another mate has his skyline on the way.. :huh:

 

I want a car that can go and drift at the same time.. FD im more leniant towards coz it can do both plus its SEX! :woot:

 

Just coz my mates got nissans thats all haha. :D

rx7 series 8 is porn mate

 

any series below and they can start to play up

rx7 if you have deep pocket, my mate has a series8 and goes thru $50 petrol a day!! mods - exhaust, fmic.

i LOVE RX-7 (s6) but i would still choose a S15 over it (personally)

 

thats just me, i love silvias...alot!

 

ALSO.... i find it a lil weird that you are comparing a S14 to a RX7 s6. the price difference is pretty big!

 

whats your budget

 

ALSO.... can you drift? i say that because yout talking about drifting some very expensive top of the range japanese machinery.

RX7 FD does it for me.. looks performance

 

BUT only if you have deep pockets to repair and maintain the thing.

 

 

otherwise i guess i could settle for a s15 silvia since they are alot newer and reliable.

Yeah bro again it is about what i choose, personal choice and all.

Its just my closest mates have nissans and the only nissan i owned was a SSS lol.

In comparing the s14 and rx7 i was just wondering, coz they look mean.. but as if! :no:

Drifting ? Nope, not yet. Ill learn on someone elses car and then utilize me skills on my own B)

Dude, get a s13 (silvia or 180) to learn to drive and drift with, then think about an FD or s15 IF you can afford it. If you go from a SSS to an FD, thats a steep jump in power!! may be too much ;)

 

I doubt anyone will want to give you a car to learn in, if you find someone... let me know :woot: & i'll try and learn breaking drifts :P

Personally, I would not get a RX7 if it isn't at least a Series 8. Many of the problems which plagued the S6 are no longer problems in the S8. The price difference between a S6 and S8 will probably be about $10k on average. They generally start at about $35,000 for a base spec S8. (Type RB) If you can afford it, get a S8 type RS, which typically go for about $40k.

 

Comparing the S6 with the S15, I would go S15, but comparing the S8 and the S15, I would go the S8.

My mate has a series 6 rx7. awsome car but you cant drive it everyday. every 2nd week he has to take it to the shop for some shit. he bought it for 32g about 2 years ago, and since then he reckons he's spent about 25g keeping the thing running in top nick. if your loaded and can afford an unreliable 14 year old rotary do it, if u want a car that still goes hard, each and every day reliably, go 180 s14/s15 or skyline

nah FDs are shit, massive amount of problems, the motors blow up every 5000kms, they cause fatal diseases such as cancer due to the rotary fumes, and when they blow up they are as dangerous as a nuclear device

 

if you really have to ask get the 200sx - seriously get an s13

Yeah i know if getting a FD i wont drive it around everyday, but thats exactly it mate, i dont want a daily driver thus thinkin rotars. I love them, they are annoying which means il become annoying! :D I'll get my mates to drive me around in their nissans.

 

Im thinkin FD atm, but i'd import it rather than get it here. I prefer the JDM rather than the ADM. Its lighter and other specifics - ausrotary.com, cheaper as well. Thats why im takin 2 months.. wanna find a good one, not a chat one.

I think its up to personal preference tho. Some mite like the silvia range better. I have to say that the rx7's are sexier! But like others have said, u gotta have quite deep pockets to maintain. It drinks alotttttttt of fuel too. Any series will do u fine. Just make sure u get it checked out first! Rotars are expensive to fix

Yeah man fd's are sexier. I know a few people that own rotars, and i have consulted them, i know it drinks fuel like water which is fine considering i dont want to take it out everyday.

 

Its just a weekend car, i've got a shitbox to get around with atm so yeah :)

If you are thinking of importing a RX7, you can only import a Series8. As mentioned previously, it will cost more than a S15. About $10k more for a reasonable one with not to high kms. Compliance cost on these cars are typically around $4,500 to $5k. Compliance plates are not as common as the S15. Alternatively, get a test car. The wait is about 5 months and you pay cash up fron first but free compliance. Around $30k to 32k landed for a good one.

 

Most FD owners do not use the car as a daily and they have run around cars. When I had my 180sx, I clocked 2,500km in one year or 49km a week so I reckon that will be the same for the RX7. Get a S8.

Yeah man im on ausrotary.com as well. Searched the FD threads already and have spoken to "Geoff" from prestige motorsport who also gave me a 7 day trial on their site. Im thinkin of bidding and buying that way rather than buying it from a dealer in japan. He told me that the only ones i could import are from late 99 to 2002 which indeed as i last googled (yesterday) was a series 8 to my surprise. Although he did send me some auction rx7's bidding prices as part of the trial, i have seen some at the auctions in japan starting from 800000 yen and up depending on the market both in stock and the rate of yen on the day. It comes down to luck and timing, hoping i can get one very cheap! :)

 

Yep, thats right, most rotar freaks have run around cars, as a rotar isnt a daily driver. And even if i had a 200 or 180, i wouldnt drive my car around everyday like my friends do to their type x's and skylines. Yep, im thinkin s8 as well, maybe coz thats the only series i can import lol as well as its the sexiest i think. :)
