  3. Anyone reckon something like this could be snuck into a Silvia engine bay to squeeze more street-friendly bottom end out of the SR or is it just another pipe dream?     Can confirm wastegate leak will lead to a very bad time. Fixed my t28bb's kowabunga actuator preload by a couple mm and went from 16psi at 4500rpm to 16psi at 3500rpm plus way better transient response. Prior to finding that I checked for boost leaks, dead vtc, collapsed cat, knock sensor etc. If that crack has enlarged near your wastegate then there's a chance it could be replicating the same effect.

    I found the BT adapter from Track Electronics works well with the NDSI app (Android). Haven't tested extensively but that app in particular responded well for me.

    Yesss stoked to see NS stay alive even though I've done pretty much nothing but lurk for the last 10 years. Some top reading on here. And agree with some of them earlier comments that the facebook groups just ask the same questions over and over when prob 90% of the answers have been here for years. N00bz needa get on it.

  9. For now, whatever the t28bb can put out. In future, leaning towards hypergear atr28ss1.5 cbb (guessing max 250kW). So pretty much less power on pump98 than those results you got on that run-of-the-mill dump setup. So do you reckon on that setup you tuned it could have more gains before the peak curve with a larger diameter dump? I'm thinking in terms of streetability.
  10. Yep I'd definitely be wanting standard position - dammit, there goes that easy fix. I'm sure if I get this done the option is always there to butcher and use my jjr front pipe (or a donor 5-bolt dump) and step diameter up later like what was done with your example you posted and what I'm imagining wing's one to look like.
  11. Yeah figured it would be tricky given the shape of the stock dump flange. Perhaps with a t25 3" v-band adapter (like this http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/121655554934) it could be done, if there isn't some issue with using them? And these massive gains you mentioned, do you mean throttle response and mid-range? My s15 is a daily so I'm looking for anything that gives more response and mid-range - trying not to fall for the temptation of big peak numbers. Guessing with a larger dump a 3.5 or 4" cat would be a smart move too.

Yep I've got a jjr 3" bellmouth dump (plus 3" all the way back) and it goes awesome considering how cheap and readily available it was - just wondered if anyone had done any similar back to back testing on different sized dumps with SRs. Was hoping maybe it was another way to improve transient response. Guess it's just not a big thing on SRs, and fair enough. Will have to look more into the in-bay cooler setup though.

So I've been searching around for ages and haven't been able to find much info about dump pipes larger than 3 inches on a single turbo application (T2/stock mani on Sr in this case, for arguments' sake). My inspiration for this question is from a facebook post by a guy who does lots of fab for JZs (post is at: https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1683547575250381&id=1655171301421342 ) His results going from 3 to 4 to 6.5 inch show the boost delivery getting proportionally earlier in the rev range. There's heaps about split vs. bellmouth but I'm curious to know if anyone has ever seen any solid gains below the curve with an enlarged 4/5/whatever inch dump pipe on a single turbo application where say the dump ID expands after the flange where possible - similar to the dumps in the facebook post. I know that post is about twin-turbo and with a completely different style dump but his dyno results plague me with the question of "what if?"... I would gladly fork out money for such a simple exhaust mod that gives significantly more response without having to commit to a high-mounted twin-scroll setup. So, have I missed this info somewhere or does it just never come up because it is known to be completely useless?
