  1. Hello, One of my headlights on my 180 has blown. I like to keep my car as standard/OEM and legal as possible and have never had the urge to 'upgrade' the headlights. But now since one has blown im looking at my options. I have done a fair bit of searching on NS and online on this. Basically i three options: 1. Replace globe with standard filament globe. Cheap and keep legal, but poor light. 2. Get something like a Phillips halogen globe like this: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/H4-Philips-Crystal-Vision-4300K-Halogen-Globes-bulbs-/110709517878?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item19c6cd2e36 Are these halogen globes legal? Wouldnt be looking at getting anything over 4300k. How do they go with glare to oncoming traffic? 3. Fit HIDs. Main thing here is that they will definitely be illegal, as 180s were never designed with them from the factory. Plus theres the issue of the outrageous glare i have read about to oncoming traffic as the 180 headlamps arent designed for HIDs. If i got something like this though, would it help as they are 'projecter headlamps' http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/89-98-Nissan-180SX-S13-Clear-Projector-Headlights-/260867392425?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3cbce883a9 Im not asking you guys to choose for me. Trying to find out if option 2 is legal and peoples experiences with these halogen globes (ie- should i get 4000k, 4300k or 5000k?, do they emit any glare to oncomming traffic like HIDs do?). Also i would need to replace my parkers if i went with options 2 or 3. From what i read LEDs are the best option? Are these T10's? Again will these be legal if theyr not some outrageous blue colour? Or can i get a different type of globe which will match headlights but be legal? Please excuse some dumb questions, this is the first time im learning about all this. Will.
  2. Catalytic converter breaking down on inside and rattling?
  3. Server Upgrade

Ditto. This site went down hill almost overnight when it was merged with boost cruising years ago or whatever happened with the hardtuned makeover. It got too fancy for it's own good. Take it back to it's roots. Get rid of most of the sub forums too whilst you're at it, especially the off topic ones. They make this place look like a ghost town.
  4. I may have a non working original head unit from my old '89 180sx. Also may have a CA18DET air box. How much you offering? I typically like to keep this stuff (hoarder$, but for the right price maybeeeee I could let it go.
  5. Under seat subwoofer

Although I value the pass-through cargo space too much to put a box there (hence my implementation being angled on one side), you've done a really nice job with your panel work. Even if someone simply wanted to run factory speakers and an amp, that would be a worthwhile purchase just for the floor and amp rack pieces, assuming the spare tyre is accessible. I know from experience that getting all the edges right is a tedious job. With a false floor someone could easily modify it to be removable for track days anyway. Mount some studs in the panel below the box, secure the sub using wingnuts, quick disconnect plugs (or bannana plugs) on the 6x9 speakers, then pull the parcel shelf, rear floor panel and sub out in under a minute. The false floor is in three pieces. The main piece being directly over the spare tyre. So you can access the tyre by just pulling that one piece up. I glued a few wooden blocks down to the boot floor then screwed the false floor to the blocks. Could remove it all in no time.
  6. Under seat subwoofer

This was my set up years ago. Full false floor, all made by myself including the box. Looking back I would never put anything like this in my car now hah. It was only in my car for a few months before someone wrote my old car off and the stuff has been sitting in storage since in pristine condition. If anyone wants to buy it let me know.
  7. hey, I remember years ago going through this thread on another forum where some guy was pretty much restoring his 180sx. Wasnt modifying it heavily, more completely replacing old parts for new OEM parts etc. He was in the UK i think. Any help finding the thread or anything similar like that would be good. thanks
  8. 180sx restoration thread?

Awsome read anyway. Don't be sorry, I would never have seen that update otherwise. Absolutely f**king crazy build that one. Need more links plz people.
  9. Hello, I am after a CA s13 drivers seat. Must be in the lighter coloured, rougher tweed material to match the rest of my interior. Failing that, I could be tempted by some type X seats, s15 seats or GTR seats if the price isnt very high, if so I will just buy a cheap CA replacement seat. Looking in melbourne only. Let me know what you have. Thanks. Will.
  10. Aircon guy near camberwell/surrey hills area

Does you air mix motor have a mind of its own and change position randomly? If so, let me know how they get on with that. I can only ever seem to fix mine temporarily.
  11. Strange slant on SR20DET

Looks like you have the special slant edition SR20. Only second in scarcity to the rare 'speckle top.'
  12. 10 years

10 and a half for me. I remember when I would check the site like 2 or 3 times a day and it would take me an hour each time to get through all the new material. Now I can browse through all the new stuff from the past 6 months in less than an hour. Site has died big time.
  13. Hi, Someone gave me a little tap to the back corner of my rear quarter panel. I'm after recommendations for a good panel shop in the inner suburbs as I want somewhere close to work and home. So somewhere around Prahran, south yarra, port melbourne, south melbourne, armadale, Richmond, malvern, toorak etc. Not overly fussed on price, more quality as it's an insurance job/the person who hit me will be paying. I know there is a workshop thread but they are all very far from me. Need something closer. Have also done a search but all recommendations seem to be in outer suburbs. Thanks a lot! Will
  14. Hello, I have a ca18det 180sx. Today it seems to be dropping a cylinder and running like crap. This has happened a few of times in the past few years. However it would happen for a day and then when I went to investigate the problem it would run fine for months and months again. However, last week it happened again but it seemed to not correct itself after a few days. This lead me to believe the coil packs were finally giving up, so I replaced them with brand new oem ones. Sparkplugs were pretty much dead at this point I reckon from running a little with this problem. I cleaned them off and tested the new coils but the problem came back after 5 minutes of driving. The next day I serviced the car as it was due for one, changing the oil, plugs, oil filter and fuel filter. I also cleaned the afm and all coil pack plugs with contact cleaner. The car then ran perfectly all week. Now today it's dropping a cylinder again. Sometimes at idle the revs will drop so low it will almost stall. I'm thinking it could be something to do with the following: - the new coil packs I bought didnt come with the little piece of metal which sits at the end of the spring, so I used 3 of my old springs and metal pieces with the the new coils. The fourth coil I had to use the spring which came with it, it has no metal piece on the end of it. Could this have an effect? - I have a hole in the bottom of my stock muffler. Don't think this would effect the issue but thought I would mention it? - fuel pump hasn't been replaced since I owned the car (6 years) so don't know how old it is. - injectors? - igniter? Car is completely standard. Any help would be much appreciated. Sorry for the long post and relatively stupid questions (I should know better, iv been here long enough!) Will
  15. CA 180sx dropping a cylinder

I live in inner melbourne, thanks for the offer though! Weirdly enough it has started running fine again. I removed the plugs and cleaned them, cleaned the igniter's ground and sprayed igniter plugs with contact cleaner. Was still dropping a cylinder after that for about five minutes driving, then after 5 mins ran perfectly and has been for the past 20mins driving. Weird weird stuff. Ill keep you posted.
  16. Real estate ppl

Also, speak to the agent directly and get this cleared up before it goes any further. You have done nothing wrong, just make sure their incompetence doesn't cause you any problems down the line.
  17. Real estate ppl

Well if you have proof in the form of bank statements/payments and your actual rental ledger then you definitely have money on account. This money should go towards your next rental charge(s) automatically. If they are sending you arrears notices and you have money on account they sound exceptionally incompetent. Hence I would not pay anymore money in rent than you need to, as it seems due to their incompetency that it would be a nightmare getting the refund back after your tenancy has terminated. They could have even disbursed that money you have sitting on account to the owner already, and if you pay more they could immediately disburse it to the owner again, then it's even more waiting and hoops to go through in regards to getting a refund. Personally I wouldn't be paying a cent more than you should be when you take into consideration how much money you have on account. They sound like shit estate agents. I'm a real estate rental trust account manager, this is what I do everyday hah.
  18. Sorry I had my green and reds confused. We were saying the same thing hah.
  19. No point getting an adaptor though because the audio wiring in the car has been hacked before and obviously doesn't have the original plug. You will have to get an audio wiring diagram (search google) and match those wires up with the wiring diagram of your head units wiring harness and solder appropriate wires together.
  20. S13 Climate Control Temp Sensor Locations

Pmod has the locations correct. However, the mass light sensor (or sunlight sensor) isn't the exterior sensor. There is an ambient air temp sensor (or exterior sensor) located near the rad support on the front of the car I can't remember where exactly. To get the DCC to work and not just blow hot air, you will only technically need the internal air temp sensor which is located under the stereo surround as suggested. To get the auto function to work though you will need the sun sensor and external ambient air temp sensor. Also depending on if you car had auto climate control before or not you may need to change the sensor in the compressor unit itself. Forget what it's called (air speed sensor maybe?). I changed mine from analogue cable non climate control to digital climate control. Had to install all the sensors and air mix motor. Still never got the auto function to work but never would use it anyway. Tell us what sort of unit (digital or analogue, climate control or no climate control) you used to have as that will determine what sensors you will need to buy. If I can find my old thread on it I'll give you the link.
  21. Hello, Simple question here. Are SR and CA clutch slaves the same? I have been searching for a replacement part number and come across one for a Datsun part no Jb4055, but they don't mention if it's for ca or sr. Will this fit both boxes? Is it the same bore as a ca slave? Thanks.
  22. Brake Pedal Grommet

Funnily enough my brake light stopper/gromit pin thing broke the other week too. I just ordered a new one off TAARK. Cost $10 plus about $5 postage. Will take 3-4 weeks to be shipped from Japan. Seems like quite an effort and expensive for a small piece of plastic but I like to keep my car original and not full of dodgey fixes. For now the cable tie and duck tape is holding but I can't imagine it would be for much longer hah. Here is the part from Nissan fast, I suggest you order from taark. http://nissansilvia.com/forums/index.php?app=core&module=attach&section=attach&attach_rel_module=msg&attach_id=423663 I also got another small plastic clip from him for holding in my parcel shelf on my 180, he can get pretty much anything.
