  1. Anyone got the hot tip on where to get an SR timing chain kit? Need one for an S14 S2 and I'm hoping I don't have to go through Nissan Australia $$$$$. Thanks
  2. Hi Guys, I'm a mechanic for a professional race team that is currently hiring and i thought it might be worth placing an ad on NS to see if there are any potential candidates out there. Based in Cranbourne, the business deals solely with the preparation, running and maintenance of race cars. We are currently campaigning two cars in the Australian GT championship, a V8 Supercar in the Dunlop development series (DVS) and the majority of our work revolves around Victorian and National Formula Ford championships. An entry level position has become available, ideally this is an apprentice role but all applicants will be considered. The hours are generally 8am-5pm weekdays and we are either racing or testing every other weekend including local and interstate travel. The position will cover all aspects of the team including preparing race cars, packing and unpacking the transport, pit crewing at various events, general fabrication and being involved in the engineering and data side as well. If you are looking for a fulltime position within the industry this may be the opportunity for you. The correct applicant will display a strong work ethic, good initiative and drive to learn new skills, will work well as part of a team and especially display a passion for motorsport. While this is an entry level position there is a real opportunity for advancement and the correct applicant will recognise this and apply themselves accordingly. The reality is you must be prepared to work long hours as during a race weekend or between meetings there are times when you have to work flat out in order to meet a deadline. If you do not work well under pressure this is not the job for you. Furthermore when you are working 6days a week on race cars you will ultimately have very little time and energy left to work on you own race car or hobby and this must be considered. This is not a part time job! If you want to make motorsport your life read on. Relevant experience is a must when applying for this position, circuit racing experience would be a bonus but all relevant skills will be considered. We are looking for someone with a professional attitude towards their employment and subsequently a complete application including cover letter, resume and referees is required. Please forward your application to glendollman@hotmail.com and i will get back to you as soon as i can. Thanks, Glen.
  3. Steering wheel shakes

Apologies if this has already been covered. I had this problem in my S14, and mechanics and wheel alignment places were absoluteley no help. Basically i had vibration approaching 100km - and over 100 it just got worse, plus if i hit some rough road it would get really really bad. So after all the false (bullsh!t) diagnosis of wheel balancing, tyres, rims themselves "non ecocentric hub" tie rod ends and multiple sets of tyres. I found it to be that the bushes in the steering rack mounts under the car had lost their integrity, not to the naked eye, the bushes themselves looked and felt fine, but if you looked closely you could see a small clean area on the rack either side of the bush and bracket, where the whole lot had been moving back and fourth. If you get your car on a hoist or jackstands and stick a prybar or large screwdriver in the steering column to stop it moving and then grab a hold of either front wheel and see if there's any movement in them the problem will become obvious. This problem in my case seemed to also be compounded by wide rims and offset. The wider the track, the worse the symptoms. Hope this helps
  4. Max Markson's speeding fines

I used to be a mobile speed camera operator and this is no secret. Its all part of Section 66 of the road safety act 1986. It is assumed when a fine is given by way of photographical evidence that the registered owner of the vehicle was the person driving the car at the time of the offence. Its known as "owner ownus" Subsequently there is nothing wront with a friend or relative of yours claiming they were driving the car at the time, and taking the points and fine themselves, or alternateley if it is a company vehicle, for say a courier company or in my case budget rent-a-car (quit the other job) it can be very difficult to work out who as driving at one specific time 4 months ago! So instead the company wears it with a larger fine instead. makes sense, no big secret here. I used to be a mobile speed camera operator and this is no secret. 5. Z445 RYCO? Different design

Nah, the design of the Z445 has been the same for at least the last 4 years.NOw its different, IS there two different types of Z445's?. The rubber ring is a different design with one side of it being round. The metal ring surface around that, has less holes in it than usual, and when you look inside, the sidewalls are the same, but the little nub that faces back towards the entry hole is different too. Strange. Anyone?
  6. Hey Guys, I'm halfway through an oil change and just realised that the Ryco Z445 oil filter ive just bought is different in design from the last one. Naturally its outside of buisness hours and im driving to phillip island first thing 2moro mornin. So can someone please confirm that the new design is still suitable for s14/15's? That message printed on the box "please check your item against the current catalogue" is freaking me out! HAH
  7. Clutch line Mod

I did this one today while i was changing the clutch fluid, and as you guys said it worked a treat, it just feels less spongey and vague underfoot, slightly more direct. An easy mod for anyone thinking about it. Thanks again Plus using my leftover castrol SRF brake fluid helps too!
  8. Hey guys, i stumbled accross this guide to modify the clutch damper on s13's and 14's. It seems like a rational thing to do but i've never heard of it before. Anyone got any info or experience? Check it out. http://garage.projectraine.com/content_guides/240_clutchdamper/clutchdamper.html
  9. Carbon S14 interior?

"WOW!" twice what i mentioned earlier! What a great bloke huh! So yeah just shoot me an Pm an I'll come an pick em' up. Ill even pay cash. P.S Seriously $10!!
  10. new silvia

As far as i know, you could pay to have the clutch master reconditioned, but I'm sure the labour costs would defeat the purpose when the problem is probably a $2 seal. Just pick one up from the wreckers, or someone wrecking a whole s13 on NS.com or check ebay.. Goodluck. Nice lookin car,
  11. Cable ties, Gaffa Tape, a torch. And for the worst case scenario, the fire extinguisher and the first aid kit. -Infact, "cannot live without" definatley the first aid kit. LOL
  12. Performance Or Looks

Hey shaky bones, I can understand where your coming from. "function over form" But honestly if you want it get it, get it. Whether your tracking your S15 or not, were not talking about time attack at Tsukuba here, I dont think its really worth worrying about that much. just buy it and enjoy it.
  13. I'm not a fan. much prefer the standard
  14. GRAN TURISMO 5
