  1. Headgasket symptoms?

is 1200 the going rate for a new motor? atleast could factor that in worst come worst mainly concerned about the loss of power when the boost comes on (that just too much air being built up and leaking?)
  2. Looking at an S14 over the weekend The owner thinks it just needs a new headgasket but thought i might get an opinion of here So the oil is milky and blows white smoke. Car still starts and runs and feels fine until boost comes in. When boost comes in the car feels like its loosing power. Is this connected to the fact that headgasket is blown and could this indicate that the head is cracked/warped as well? Thanks
  3. cars already got a haltech e6 in it (bit old skool) anyone know whether this is compatible with e flex sensors?
  4. cheers so seems like i wouldnt even need a new tank or lines, so guessing there wont be any extra work in converting it to e85? (already doing injectors, tune and pump) i guess next step is talk to tuners and get it sorted thanks
  5. btw if you have any reasons for me not to do this please let me know (kinda want to be convinced not to go this path instead of doing it and regretting) as this is just a thought that came while i passed a united fuel station 2day n saw e85 sign actually had no intention of htis till today
  6. LCD - thanks for your 2 cents - you have actually answered why i want e85, been told by many tuners gains are achievable due to timing (also may consider more boost depeding on the tuner) Ive also been told the negs of e85, availability, cost of conversion etc - which doesnt seem to be an issue as so far what i can gather is id need new lines only? ecu tune injectors fuel pump are all going to be done anyway
  7. have thought about the availability i have a caltex that has e flex about 5ks from my house this will also be my car number 3 so wont be using it except for pleasure of it (got a daily and v8 cruiser)
  8. may not be the best title but wanted to see the feasability also its not a silvia but a sr20det powered car (import awd bluebird) pretty similar specs to s13 (factory 370cc (i think) injectors), so thought this may be the best place to ask anyway currently motor wise, its stock internals, gt2860rs turbo - haltech e6 (will confirm exact model) turbo back exhaust - bov - fmic - e boost blah blah now looking at finishing it off with bigger injectors (was thinking 550cc - maybe upto 700) and tune anyway thought came into my head what if it was converted to e85 (if the costs were not too much more) already have the ecu which i want tuned planning on upgrading injectors prob best for a new fuel pump while im at it would i be able to get away with a e85 with the above - hoping to pull 200-220awkw (prob equivalent of 250-270rwkw due to drive train loss and dont want to boost over 15psi) would stock fuel tank work? stock fuel lines? anything else id require for the conversion? thanks if you need more info just ask

  11. haltech e8

just got my hands on one of these (off a spare parts car i bought) could anyone give me some insight (more in terms of personally using it) Im guessing tuning wise these are meant to be a decent unit (im only going to tune it wit 700cc injectors and already have a gt2860rs turbo with fmic and 3 inch turbo back) but in terms of the simple things like idle control and cold starts how do people rate these ecu's also are these ecu's dual map? (did see a post in the wtb section giving that idea) thsnks
  12. After anyone with experience getting a bluey in the campbelltown area First condition is the blueslip guy must be able to do on the spot inspection (off course i can book it in advance), im not a local (only the car is) so i dont want multiple trips Preferably some lenient with modified cars but thats only preferably Car does have a pod filter and aftermarket front mount (car came with stock front mount), Exhaust is legal (passed epa in past with same exhaust setup) and hoping he wont realise theres a upgraded turbo and aftermarket ecu (hidden). I know the pod filter is an issue and dont mind failing for that, and fmic, hoping that it passes but can understand if it doesnt, and hopefully the rest passes through Also what have people found with blue slip in term of upgraded turboes and ecu? whatever location being done at? also pm me if u dont want to publically post
  13. Injectors and ECU setup

just want to clarify when i said stock injectors above i mean stock s15 injectors and in regards of my aims would be around 150-170awkw (which im guessing would not be too hard considering most s15s make around 170-180kw with similar setups at 15psi) other than this my car has a fmic and 3 inch turbo back exhaust also this is more of a budget build so im not considering other ecus
  14. Bit of a noob when it comes to this stuff so im incorrect please correct me Ok to start of i dont own a silvia but an import u13 bluebird with sr20det (so hopefully you guys will be able to help me out) atm its running stock t25 turbo and a microtech ecu and the ecu is giving me the shits with cold starts and idle control issues after asking around a bit ive been told that this is expected with microtech ecus and im better off changing back to stock ecu. This is where im a bit a confused, as im also thinking of upgrading my turbo and injectors to a jdm s15 bb t28 turbo and the stock injectors. From what i gather is if i use the stock ecu of a jdm s15 and stock injectors, will that mean i would not have to have a retune as the ecu is already tuned for those injectors. If im right in the above paragraph would there be any issues in putting a s15 ecu on a u13 bluebird? is it possible, any issues, would the amount of wiring required be a lot more effort than a u13 ecu (which wouldnt be easy to find) thanks
  15. is that including paint or not? i know someone that does it for 500+ paint but you gotta help him out(prepping sanding etc) though if yours is 800 including paint thats cheap also the person i know isnt qualified though has some experience and also his not the greatest and would neva let him do my r33 (maybe a shitty daily i would)
