  1. yeah thats what my last s14a had,was hoping closer to the 200 mark without a aftermarket ecu...

Before everyone flames me... let me get this clear,i know it would probably be easier if i go aftermarket ECU (power fc,microtech etc etc), but i havnt got the funds to do that,to both buy the aftermarket ecu and then go get it tuned. So i came up with the idea i possibly using a standard S15 ecu into a S14A. They are basically the same engine (VCT),besides the extras like injector sizing etc,but i'm not sure what else it would be controlling different to the S14A. In doing this S15 ecu into S14A swap, i can also use things like the 480cc injectors from a standard S15 instead of the smaller S14A ones due to the computer already being factory tuned to suit them. Car is basically standard at the moment, but will have in the near future running approx 12-14psi : - full turboback exhaust (Already have a Jasma catback so only needing, dump/front/cat) GKTECH setup $250/ punched 3" cat $40, or if i can find cheap second hand setup. - Basic front mount intercooler (want to use standard piping in the engine bay to the SMIC but use a bigger core positioned at the front,similar to a "NO HOLES GKTECH setup) aprrox $300 (either Ebay or JUST JAP) - Turbotech bleed valve $ 40 - Modified airbox with upgraded panel filter $ FREE - Standard S14A t28 = same as S15 turbo minus the ball bearing setup. $ FREE - obviously S15 480cc injectors = $200 - S15 ecu $ 100 ?? - Power run on dyno/check AFR= $100-$200 BUDGET IS APPROX- $1000-$1500 I am happy to make anywhere from 180kw - 200kw as per what a basic modified S15 would make,just in the S14A shell.I will do all these mods myself as i have fitted basic mods like this in the past with no drama's,add for a $100 power run to check AFR on a dyno. Add to this a diff ratio change at a later date,from the Shitty 3.69 or whatever to a decent r33 4.11 or 4.3 setup and i think i could have a decent everyday car to terrorise in. I will also add that i came up with this idea after reading it is possible to use a Power FC suited to a S15 in a S14A when changing a couple of wires around to suit on the standard loom/pinouts. Give me your thoughts if i'm wasting my time or not. Thanks in advance and if anyone in sydney want to help out with parts they may have for sale etc let me know. Chris..

    Awsome job cleaning the car up....I would be pissed off if it didn't have a black top in it for a S14A but you've seemed to transform it with some quality mods.Great work with the current wheels, and for some reason it looked just that bit more TUFF with that black bar and bonnet.Just my thoughts. Great DIY. P.S - i need my boonet and boot sprayed if you're in Sydney

  5. Defected Notice

    Got defected for my exhaust once for to loud etc.Was written down with a number of other defects also.I rang up the DECC and said how can it be known to be a defect if it hasn't been tested/proven to be a defect? If it was tested at a defect/DECC station,then it'll be "known" to be a defect.Not written down as one "suspecting" to be a defect, theres a difference.This was not clear and after faxing a copy of the defect papers to the DECC at their requst,they agreed that it cannot be written down as a defect until tested and then subsequently told it was one.They can send you to the DECC to get it tested,and the DECC can give you a defect notice depending on their results,but it cannot be written down as a defect itself without backup testing. All the other 9 defects were defects and easily cleared.That was the only one i was worried about not the others. Not sure if this helps

Thought i'd bump this up with my situation...I currently have standard manual s14a diff gear,which are 3.692 or there abouts.Looking for something in the range of 4.11's or so.Now for people that have been there and done that,What is easiest/best: A) go for a skyline r33 4.11 diff,and change skyline 5 bolt setup to standard s14 6 bolt half shafts into that diff and put it all together. B ) Find a JDM s14 4.08 diff (close enough ratio) and put that in and save myself the headache of changing around half shafts etc.(what are these worth??) Have seen them around for $300+ mark,reasonable price? C) Find some 4.11 gears and bolt them on my current centre. D) Start from scratch,Get myself a Helical s15 diff centre,some 4.11 gears,bolt it all in my current diff housing and dont worry about shimming. Please note,my car has no ABS.So does this mean if i buy an ABS equiped diff,i can just leave the sensor disconnected? And also note that i will be shimming the Viscous diff centres whichever one i use.Few options here and have been juggling between them and not sure on costs all round. P.S- new to nissans...and shit ADM ratios.Car is for street,not drift.Thanks in advance EDIT* can get, r33 gtst 4.11 non abs diff for $240,which seems like a good option
