I know this is not a Nissan, but i thought i'd start a thread where i may have the highest chance of getting some help, or atleast get pointed at the right direction.

I am about to purchase a 2nd hand turbo kit for a Mazda 3 SP23 (was originally fitted to a pre-face lift model SP23), comes with everything, manifold, fmic, turbo, ext gate, a piggy back ecu (which i will turf) etc. I am looking for a workshop who will be able to fit the kit (will include braided oil lines etc) and from what i know, the sump may need to be modified (drill a hole for the oil return, but the kit comes with a sump - from a pre-facelift,which may not fit my car).

Any suggestions? Will also need to get the car tuned (will need to purchase an aftermarket ECU at the same time), pref along the lines of a Microtech or a Haltech.

Anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks, may pop down and see what they can do for me in the next few days smile.gif.

i would say don't bother.....

torque steer is gay!
timmy_Tam
burn it
fwd = whack.gif = bad kitty!
UNDR8D MOTORWORKZ
descent suspension setup on front including swaybars n good coil overs should kill the torque steer issues

I've taken the car to Winton a few times and the car needs a bit more "oompf". I've already got BC coilovers, replaced the rear engine mount and other bits n pieces.

I'll need some semi's to match the increase in power though sad.gif.

Newer fwd cars with decent suspension setups don't suffer from torque steer much at all..

I've driven eck0's mazda 3 and it is going to awesome with a turbo bolted on! He just needs an IHEARTGATE Sticker biggrin.gif
Jimmo
Ive driven a Cordia with VR4 4G63 engine, big turbo - 240 kw at the front wheels and even with a DECENT suspension setup it was uncontrollable.

Front end used to Jump lanes.
bryanfc
yeh but thats cos cordias are shitboxes kim.
Jimmo
And Mazda 3s are? Exotic?

bryanfc
No, but they aren't 20 years old biggrin.gif

I'm not looking at craploads of power, effectively i'd be happy with between 140-180kw.

Theres a member on OMC thats running 185kw atw everyday with no excessive amounts of torque steer except when in the wet.

Theres been a *few* engineering advances in the FWD world in the last 20 years tongue.gif

Why don't you both help the guy instead of adding useless bullshit to this thread?

eck0 - don't expect a lot of useful responses on this forum. Most of them have the mechanical knowledge of a nat and if it isn't an S-series Nissan they don't want to know anything about it or contribute anything positive.

Trent @ Status Tuning comes highly recommended for most ECU's. Sam @ Dr Drift also tunes a vast range of ECU's. Status Tuning is in Dandenong, Dr Drift is in Brooklyn/Tottenham. Worth chatting to both of them.

And to the nobs bagging a turbo FWD - a high power FWD is fine if it's set up well. Good tyres, an LSD and coilovers do wonders - even in a high power FWD. If it's that much of a problem for you...learn to drive. It is seriously not hard to keep a well setup FWD in a straight at WOT, grow some balls.

bahahahah ownage by a chick^^^^^^^^^^^

kim: i have seen this girls pulsar first hand probly one of the most spastic setup pulsars i've seen n she has f**k all dramas

even ginger's TRD aurion still handles sweet

ecko: have thought about using a import Mazda Familiar LSD might be a bit of a f**k around to fit but shouldnt be too far as they still use the BP series motor/boxes......im 95% sre they do anywayz :|

i had a nissan exa turbo - lane jumper too kim pwoahh happy days driving with both hands on steering wheel

Thanks - I had to, stupid generalisations shit me smile.gif Mine isn't the best example to use, but even with my relatively moderate 160fwkw to 1100kg in a FWD car it's bloody easy to drive. You really need to be an absolute noob to have problems driving it. It drives like a normal car when you want it to.

PS. this guy doesn't appear to have any problems at the drags controlling his 11 second Pulsar on street tyres:

Well mainly, the objective of the car is to be a great track car and still remain a comfortable daily.

I've replaced the rear engine mount (with a 70 durometer solid urethane) which limits axle hopping, which we all know is painful .

I've had a look at LSD's, Quaife make one for the Mazda 3, but costs around $1,500 for the unit shipped to your door from the States.

I'll be looking at nitrating the gears one through to three and have a LSD fitted later.

Anyways, i'll give the places mentioned ago, will stop by when i have the gear and have a quick chat.

I know it's a long shot posting a thread here, but it's one of Australia's, if not the largest automotive community.

Thanks smile.gif.

Haha bry, yeah need to get i heart gate sticker tongue.gif

Kit comes with a tial 38mm ext waste gate biggrin.gif (which is good for the ported exhaust housing on the t28).
