Allright, i've just spoken to the reception at calder, and they tell me there is no plans to bring wednesday night drifting back , UNLESS THEY RECEIVE EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST from people that would be willing to go. I've been told that they will start it up again if there is demand, so anyone sick of the drive to winton, give them a call or email them. Or, if anyone can help get Sandown/Calder drift events happening, lets get this organised.

Maybe just an idea... Get a petition going.

I think you can get an online petition started for free off some site ( don't know it tho )

If they see it for themselves id saying they would do something.

I loved going up every last wednesday of the month. Always good time heading up and going back from Geelong.

man, good luck, i just did that "theoretically" for school, and discovered that the cost of bitumen is the reason it's hard to build a new track. But i'm from the SE so i'm down wit that too.

we should organise a cruise with cars THAT WILL ACTUALLY DRIFT (not like the west meet where every1 comes to watch) and drive up 2 calder with cash flopping out, helmets on, handbrakes tightened, ready for some dori dori action.

We have a 5 hour drive to Winton (calder would be 4 hours for us as well)...harden up and get out on the track!

rumours were floating saying that they are attempting to get v8's back... and they want to track in tip top condition... pity it never started like that lol

the main problem with renting tracks; sandown, Phill. Island etc. only allow cams affiliated clubs on them, this leaves the asca tracks(the rebels) winton & calder for off-street meets. Therefore, if vicdrift got thier act together and set it up( pretty sure they have cams affil; Finky?), they could run events at both The island and sandown, but i think they have an agreement so they can sustain thier championship. You can't really blame them, motorsports is in hard times. Bottom line, the big circuits down here don't give a rats about dudes with streetcars. Even though, 1 a year, they hold a street meet each. I'm mostly spewin cause i moved here like 6 years ago when it was just the fullock nationals, and nothin at home in qld. Now i feel like a f$#kwit! ! Hell, 50man used to travel to melb. to compete!

IF this petition even prompts Calder to consider holding drift nights again, do the utmost to get VicDrift involved. try to work out some sort of deal with them as opposed to simply promoting the idea that they'll kill drifting in Victoria.

Dude you have no idea the amount of effort I put into calder and the amount of money the club lost by doing so. Calder came to us and asked for help only to turn around and not pay our tutors out of the event profits and not give the club a share of the profits ether (that happened at both drift skills days). Then they cancel all vicdrift events for the year with out even a phone call. Only thing we got was a 2 line letter.

If anyone forgets full lock failed due to a big input from calder. Someone correct me if im wrong.

and finally there is NO deal making with calder they hold all the cards and will happily screw anyone they deal with. You can ask any group that has been dealing with calder before.

This is not a negative attitude but vicdrift have been burnt too many times by calder

would VicDrift approach Calder management again looking for a fresh start?

i also suggested in the main drift thread that the petition be taken to the local MP & a copy sent to the Minister for Roads & Transport (or the equivalent) within Vic parliament as a way of highlighting that the car community is attempting to keep things legal and be taken seriously.

has VicDrift sent a similar letter, email etc to said Minister? invite him out to a track day, give yourselves exposure, demonstrate that you are legitimately trying to organise & promote the sport. if this has already been done, then aside from trying to get a story in the local paper or on a sensationalist media show, i'm out of ideas.

Dude i have even spoken to The higher ups in TAC and they are not interested ether. What drift in victoria needs is to band together and show the government that we need something closer to melb so that people dont do it on the streets. Earlier this year when i was talking about working on getting a track built i found a number of sites north of the ringroad that there may be opertunities to build a track at. Only issue is it takes years for council planning to approve it and then millions to build the track, because you need fencing, security, track bulit for drift, facilities and much more.

We also asked someone from the GOV or TAC to come to winton for drift attack last year and just be there for the photo op with the winners and they dont want anything to do with hoons. Thats the way we are all seen to not only the police and the government but also to the local comunity because people continually drift on public roads. Its really a catch22

I think as long as the current management is at calder drift will not continue there with or without the clubs help. I have spoken to alot of people that say that he is only interested in one thing.

I dont like this anymore than everyone else and if calder was up i would blow my credit getting to calder and winton.

But the way that things have gone in the past, I really cant see anything happening. Not wingeing about anything just stating the facts. If anyone wants to get the full story on the club and calder send me a PM with ur number and ill give you a call.

I'll be sending this off to today tonight and aca then, with any letters of no response from the government, and put the pressure on them monkeys for once. If joe public finds out that the government is taking to us with a double edged sword, the pressure should shift away from us. The big magazine editors have been doing the same thing, but they're in sydney, and that's no help to us. Also, palladin, have you consisered working with Raceline to bring stadium drift to Sandown?

The horse racing body of vic is in charge now, RV, a freinds mates dad is on the board and he's gonna look into how they wanna operate things, but i think thier track hire model will be similar, cams clubs only etc. Just wondedring if you knew?

Yeah we have been looking into it. Maybe an issue with the club drifting there. There has also been news of new tracks being built in vic so ill keep everyone posted on that.
