Callum where do I put this ?? - Paul Williamson Nissan Silvia - 1:01.0000 - KU36 230hp FJ20S13 .

Has a rear wing but don`t think it does much ......... Anyway stick it where you reckon it should go :)

Just rebuilt the FJ with forged pistons so might bring it out again soon and have another go

Paul Ruzic runs the Time Attack days. I have done a few, really well organised. He has the next group lining up about 3-4 laps into the previous run group. Get lots of runs and a decent amount of time on track.

new PB today on Clubman 61.59 (2nd lap of the video).

Took about 4 tenths off previous best from last month. Changed diff ratio to 4.363 to help it drive of the last corner in 3rd gear. Didn't go any good on the Sprint Circuit - 1st session I only got 2 clean laps in between getting caught by a Porsche GT3 (that I beat on Clubman), a big HP Cobra and a Radical. Then in the second session popped an intercooler hose on the first lap...

That's enough QR for me. Bring on Lakeside midweek sprints next month :)

nice work harry! new newsurface record! you must be getting good at swapping diffs :]

good stuff beating mr porsche.
i reckon the days where you run both track layouts are annoying, just when youre getting into the groove on one, they switch... imo clubman should be the benchmark layout for everyone !

We ran the Clubman course the whole day on Sunday for the open sprints. Not sure why. I'm not a fan of changing halfway either. I just entered for Lakeside sprints this weekend. For the online entry form what does "My car complies with street class rules" mean? Is there a tyre restraint or something?

Did a 62.9 today around Lakeside. No aero on Nitto NT01's. Need to fix rear traction corner issues before I can squeeze anymore out of it and get consistency throughout the whole track.

lol, my 'record' ain't gonna stand for very long!

you're right about changing tracks after just 2 runs. Makes it hard to get a decent time on Clubman. As you say - you're just getting into the swing of it and then its over. Its more annoying because the Clubman track is good fun, and you stop running that to go to the horrible Sprint layout...

I haven't been on the clubman track since 2004... But back in my sprinter days it was definitely my preferred track!! Looking forward to competing on Yokohama advan ad08 for timeattack.com street class this year... I just got them today!! Im also gonna concentrate on street tyre lap times this year... Since my car is daily driver... I don't think I can live with driving on RSRs everyday... I heard they're really bad in the wet (braking anyways)... I need something that I can drive everyday (safe in all conditions) and just drive to the tracks...drop some pressure and go racing...

I'd love to get some 3.9 or even 4.1 diff.... I think that would really help me out with the 3rd gear corners... How much is it btw??

RSR's are fine in the wet. I did a 68 on them 2 weekends ago on the Clubman track.

Well, I've already got my yokes.... Might give the rsr a try next time round... Interesting to see which tyres faster...

us S13's have to put the 4.363 diff in to get the same overall 3rd gear ratio the S15 has standard. Making 3rd gear lower again might be asking a bit much of street tyres - depending on how much power you've got. But if you can get the power down, a 3.9 diff looks like it would work well on my gearing calculator.

Yup... Thanks for the input! I don't have major issues, just find that 3rd is a bit tall from ideal... Eg. First flip flop at qr... When I'm exiting... The engine is only at around 3-3500rpm... If I can up the rpms by 300 or so... That would be great... However I think if I do that, I'll run out of 4th and will prob need to grab 5th passing Dunlop bridge at LS... But the car should be quicker around the eastern loop.... Hard to get something for nothing...

BTW... I'm attending The Paul Ruzic time attack series in B1 class tomorrow... Anyone else coming??

we used the new transponder timing system at Lakeside sprints yesterday. Its going to be used at both Lakeside and QR. Yay for proper timing system! But there is an additional some - $20 transponder hire per day or $80 to buy one. They should last 8 years apparently. You can also buy a unit that displays and stores your lap times for $120ish.

my lower diff made no real difference to times at Lakeside, 59.6 was only a tenth faster than last time. But it was much easier to provoke wheelspin exiting corners. The standard diff ratio was easier to drive with.

Was standard 4.11 or 3.9 before?

I changed back to the stock 4.083 yesterday. Going to have another crack at Mt Cotton hillclimb. After doing the first round with the 4.363 diff, I reckon the taller diff will help in Turn 1 and the hairpin. Also changed down to 6/4kg springs (was 7/6) to try and suit the slower track better and removed the alloy subframe collars in favour of pineapples in max traction setup to try and get a better launch and better drive off the slow 1st gear corners. I'll be annoyed if its not faster! lol
I might dial out some of the rear camber too...

Harry, not that I'm an expert but your plans sound good, I'm only running 235HP so its almost hard to brake traction apart from the launch and the first hairpin. When I was watching you I thought limiting wheel spin would get you at least a second.

With the 4.3 and RB20 ratios I had to use 1st in the hairpin on after the 1st loop, if you are in second with your power it should stretch to the top of the second loop and beat my time no problems..

Anyone want a track ready registerable car? Time to sell for me, I got it down to 60.06 at lakeisde (more in it before aero) and 47.87 at my cotton. http://nissansilvia....em&item_id=6829

Shame you're selling yours - so close to a 59 at Lakeside!!!
Mine is supposed to make 271rwbhp at 16psi according to the dyno sheet that came with the car when I bought it a few years ago, but I've been running it at 13psi for the past couple of years. Running 16psi gets too much knock after the first few laps at sprints and it didn't get any better lap times anyway. I guess I could turn the boost up for Mt Cotton, but it struggles for traction as it is!

Pretty sure the RB20 box has the same ratios. The hairpin was a bit of a problem for me because 1st was too low and impossible to get traction and 2nd had the car bogging down under the boost threshold, but still proved to be faster. Hoping the taller diff will make 1st useable through the hairpin to avoid that lost time waiting for it to come on boost in 2nd.
But the main reason for my changes is comparing my times to my previous cars at Mt Cotton, 46.2sec GTR and 46.3sec CA18DET Datto 1200. The 180SX can match them in the 2nd and 3rd sectors, but is 1.5sec slower in the 1st sector!!! I really need to improve my launch and 1st turn! 1st turn was a similar problem as the hairpin - 1st gear just too short, 2nd gear way too tall, but 1st worked out faster there. Taller diff should help that a bit as well.
I won't be at this coming hillclimb to try the changes out, I'll be over at Fraser Island, but will try to get to the next one.

Does anybody know if practice is still on before the sprint sessions? I'll be back home this week and want to go to the street sprints at QR on the 20th but there was no mention of practice in the morning only v8 race experience?

59.85 Sprint no aero. I think I could manage another second just through braking better as I was all over the place. I spin the inside wheel for about 10m out of the dipper so if i can fix that there might be some small gain there as well. Unfortunately my gearbox has developed a whine.

Edit: More info

184RWKW's ECC dyno, Nitto NT01 225 F/ 255 R no wing or splitter
