New Member. Rebuilding a Sr20det straight from my 1995 180sx. Wondering or if its suitable to just re-work the pistons. JE & Eagle conrods. usual Acid clean & bore with ARP STudds ect. Really necessary or should i spend money on replacing the valve Stems, Valve springs ect. ?? Not intrested in doing the Top Head. Just a engine recondition, would i loose any response or power from placing back in the old parts for the head ??? definately doubt i would gain power either..

So the motor has been previously built with JE pistons/eagle rods? If so you can reuse them depending on there condition/km etc you'll just need new rings and bearings.

If you have the motor apart you might aswell do the head and maybe do some cams obviously depending on what you want from the car. Doing valve stems and all that kind of stuff is a must if your doing the job right.

I cant see the point in pulling down the motor to give it a freshen up if your only doing half the job... In future making you post a bit more detailed will get you alot further and more detailed and useful responses!!!

Reconditioning the engine because of low compression in 3rd cylinder & Radiator fluid leaking into the oil sump becuase of a headgasket that was cooked. Head is stock standard. motor has done 120k. Cams, valves, stems, springs all seems fine. Boring the cylinders again & relignment of the "new' Pistons & conrods.

Daily driver. Stock T25
