the law is there for the reason of ppls cars not bottoming out on potholes, speedhums n stuff.
it makes the car "unsafe"
as lame as it is thats wat we cop

Supposedly there's a safety reason behind it, but meh to that!

also if theres a collision(mainly front oncollisions) between a HIGH car eg. nissan patrol and a slammed s14 then the high car might have a greater risk for driver/passenger as it could climb on top..... or something along those lines i cant remember exactly
anyway...these reasons given by me or other NS members are not definite so best to ask vicroads or some shit... even some of them might not have a clue

front and rear bumper
cat
exhaust tips
etc etc
if any point is lower then 100mm from a flat surface it is defectable
if you want ur car low then you gotta cop it once in a while

Car can be lower than 100mm, should it be ADR approved.
good luck getting ADR approval on a modified car........

as far as im aware there was a new rulling due to all the new cars coming in below 100mm that it depends on the manufactures settings. so its just a bullshit blanket effect for the cops to do you easily.

full load of people + full tank of fuel u can take off 20... or 25% to u can have ur car sitting on 75mm or something
i doubt it was ever true

Basically the cheif inspector tried to tell me that the ground clearance must not be lower than 100mm with a full car load of people (all seats filled), full tank of petrol, and a full bootload.
Now tell me.. if for some miraculous reason i decide to have a 200kg heffa in the back, and another 150kg one in the front, and the car is handling like a piece of shit.. and the brakes are under MASSIVE struggle.. yet the height is still 100mm.. how that is SO much safer than having the car slightly lower, yet be able to BRAKE if need be?

It can be from the lowest point of the vehicle. whether it be diff, exhaust, side skits. whatever the cop pleases.

sure the car might look mad really low but its a pain in the ass, i use to love it but im so over slowing down on speed bumps, going side ways not to scrape blah blah. 10cm looks good anyways and youl actually be able to go over stuff.

even tho i have chopped springs in it, the body of the car and everything sits on 100mm.. now.. if i have stockies on it sits below.. if i got my 17's on it clears it.
anyway... im getting coilovers and fukn off my choppies.. (if any1 wants to buy em they tuff to drift on fully sick and shit LOL) then im going to adjust the height so everything clears 100mm exact.. carry a fkn ruler around with me so if i do get done and a cop goes.. 'mate your car is way too low' i'll hand him the ruler and say measure it..
i cbf with them anymore.. and btw just to add.. i just got my defect off 2 days ago.. and just got one put back on tonight
anyone wana buy my car?
lmfao
