Only took me an arvo to knock up a half cage and looks just like the real thing!

you don't have to go overboard unless you want the cage to be up to cams standards. if you go to an exhaust shop they'll be able to get you some tube that'll be suitable

180roman, 40mm Chromoly is what Cusco cages are made out of, Safety21 use 40mm Steel, Theres so many debates on strength vs weight bla bla bla...

Cusco and Safety21 are made with different materials, Even if Cusco owns Safety21 i wouldnt know the exact reason as to why they release the cages in 2 different materials i guess theres a market for it....

well since Chromoly is 33% lighter i guess it would be the one to go for if you dont want to add to much weight with a cage, but i think chromoly is also a bit more expensive the carbon steel, so it all depends on purpose and how much money you are willing to spend.

Pending on which cage you get, i do not think saftey 21 are seamless cold extruded, i think they are just 100% normal mild steel with a 2mm wall.

Antonio price is a big factor in differnt materials.
Dunno if the price is differnt from where they retail but if they are the same and your stupid enough to buy the cheaper one to make, cusco come out on top either way.
You would also have to look into how they are manufactured, ie with robots, what weld is used etc, this will all determin cost

I wouldnt be greatly concerned about whats made of what on a bolt in cage, especially a dash evade, from my point of view some bends arent exactly from a "roll over" point of view.

Honestly mate if you going to make yourself some bars up, ( i have ), i just used mild steel with 3mm walls. and i turned up some spiggots (this was for a cross brace) and welded the spigget in the tube which i cut to length

bolt-in= stiffness IMO, not safety, if you are worried about safety then you go to brown davis/meridian and spend 2k+ on a ADR/CAMS legal 6point weld in cage at the minimum!

Yeah, basicly the same opinion. Allthough given a bolt in is beter than nothing.
