I love watching when they shut down at a quarter track or half track and still run under 10 sec quarters
the acceleration of the line must be brutal

In the US most drag events are 1/8 mile

this is because top speeds were getting ridiculous. over 500km/h in some case. was getting too dangerous and too expensive to be competitive so 1/8 mile it is

Anything running Alchohol does not use a Dyno...

HP is measured by speed/time calculator's.

Nah its not measured by a dyno. Its measured by trap speeds and is only an approximation

that sort of power is quite possible with the biggest of big block keith black hemis a farkload of supercharger boost and nitromethane.

oh, and in the big leagues they get a full engine rebuild after every pass. not every race...every 1/4 mile pass :o

they use 540ci big blocks which is roughly around 8.8L. the biggest powermaker is the fuel they run. doorslammers here have about 3500hp but top fuellers use nitrometh fuel and bigger superchargers to get 8000hp. those suckers drink about 6L of fuel per second and have no gearbox!
