Pretty sure I was on $5 a day.

There is a stickied thread in the top of the Vic section with recommended workshops etc. I'd suggest having a look in there and then giving a few people a call.

if u get into supercheap or repco or something theres a chance they will want to keep u as a casual so extra pay means u might get ur 180 a liltle sooner

i think it would be very hard for u to get any hands on experience.
no offense but i wouldn't be taking my car to any place that would let a 16 year old work experience kid touch my car.

rather do that myself.

I did my Work Experience at Subaru almost 9 years ago!!! It was fun gettin to go for blasts in WRXs and Liberty B4s :D

I did my work experience at mercedes benz in south melbourne. Best job ever. Literally just rolled around all day in SL55 AMG's etc...pretty much drove in every merc they had on the showroom floor, and other customers cars. These two guys (who were 20 and 21) and were actual employees had the best job ever. Just drove the cars from place to place getting tyres changed etc, drove the cars hard too.

my ideal career is to became a mechanical engineer for FPR (which is like 10mins from my house) or even in Japan or USA, tuning D1 cars
yeh its a long shot lol

^^^mate im studying mech eng atm, great coarse. just make sure u really love ur maths and physics or u wont like this coarse. dont go into this coarse thinking u will be building awesome cars, this is a design coarse. so doing something like going to a mechanic will not help u at all. someone like drdrift is good, try learn about parts of cars, how they work, the physics behind it rather than how to fix them cos that wont mean shit to u.

also if u can get work experience in any drafting place will be way better for u in the long run as u may be able to get a part time job there, which will really help u with ur studies. make sure u go into this coarse expecting that at the end of it u wont have a job in australia. the workforce for mech eng in aus is really shit at the morning if u want to do something with cars. if u go to rmit they sort u out with ibl (industry based learning), if ur achieving good marks, u can request to go to germany, usa, or japan. which is what ill be doing when im done. its 1 year of paid work experience (75% of qualfied engineers pay), then u come back and finish ur 4th and last year of the coarse, then most people are offered full time jobs where theyve done ur ibl. keep ur head down through school, do the hard work now, itll save u alot of time and effort .

yeh bro fully agree with ya

i tried many mech eng places before i tried this . all were full or didnt take places

whats that?

yeh id love to go to japan or usa but couldn't afford it

atm in yr10 im achieving pretty high marks, already started a VCE IT course (accelerated) and i'll try specialist+methods and physics in my year 11 subjects
i'd like DrDrift cause i want to get into drift as a hobby when i get my 180, like join Vic Drift and all that + i wonna do alot of the work to my car myself
i was thinking of taking a mech course at tafe over the xmas holiyz this yearto help me understand them more- i just know alot of theory atm

forget doing a coarse to learn about cars. read, read, ready. the internet is all u need. im just wrapping up building my own car from ground up pretty much based on thing i learnt just from reading and asking questions. never taken my car to a mech except to have it tuned.

drafting place is where they do drawings. things like autocad. cad is computer aided design. those places usually take alot of kids for work experience. sure ull prob be getting them coffee and wiping their ass when they shit, but u get ur foot through the door, theyll show u some basics, then u might be able to get something part time, even pushing papers till u start ur coarse, then theyll have u do some basic drawings and shit.

soz for being direct... just curious on how to get in to this

u have to do maths methods as a prerequisite, but i highly recommend u do physics as well as most of the first year will be recapping on the school shit so its good u have a sound understanding of it. only do specialists if ur really good at maths other wise itll f**k u over.

i got into it cos i knew what i wanted to do ever since i was ur age and havent looked back since.

i did methods, chemistry, hhd, english and vis comm in year 12. but if i could do it again i would do, methods, specialist, chem, physics, english. known as the asian 5 or suicide 5. but thats me.

enter score to get into my coarse when i graduated year 12 in '05 was 91, but its gone down a bit now cos the trade is under high demand.
