i LOVE the Mazda Mx-5 especially the new ones with the retractable hardtop!! with the wider body and and the few body changes i rekocn they look alot more like a guys car. i was talking to my mates about buying one and i got torn apart saying they were a girls car etc, but as i am on ma P plate i think it would be a awesome car to own and one day in the future attaching a turbo would please my need for speed. what are your opinions on it, is it for girls only? i think not but hit us with your opinion Cheers P-plater

(Also where should i start for mods?)

Get over what your mates think, there handling is epic, especially after a few mods, you can also make them go like stink (it crushes the v8 boys when they a pounded by a "girls car") and chicks dig them. Learn to drift an mx5 so the next time your mates give you shit, give them a go at the skid pan, i learnt just yesterday it takes a whole lot of skill and real balls to drive them sideways(it didnt help that mine had no power steering).

When I was 11 they were my favorite car on need for speed. Handling was epic and they look alright done up. Bahaha. Nah seriously though don't listen to your mates. They can be pocket rockets.

100% cool car. Only takes the right stance to male them tough as a house.

Add to that, they are so much fun to drive, so who cares what any wankers think about it being 'girly'.

I like the older one's, great handling, quite zippy and they look really good slammed on some dished rims. I don't like the new one at all lol, chicks/hairdressers car lol IMO

Definatly a tuff car.

parts are easy to get from the us too.

No matter what you do to it.. Its Australia, and everybody will still call it a girls hairdressers car.. Even if its the best drift car the fastest car down the quater the outside to 90% of the population will be chicks car.

If you really dont care about what people say, then get 1.. If your going to get over the constant abuse by people calling it a chicks car then dont.

That's tough.

But how many people in AUS make them look like that! very few that is why they are still called a hairdresser car and probably always will be

But at the end of the day who cares what people say if you like it then get it, if everyone didn't get what they wanted cos everyone else thought it was shit then you would have nothing.

hahah tough thread. compare a mans man car to it say a VE SS.. SS standing for supersport that would suggest its meant to be a sports like car. and compare it to a mx5 50/50 weight balance low center of gravity, lots of grip bla bla bla to and Super Sport V8 mans man car. and your answer will lay in what do you really want out of a sports car. but if this is not your concern and you want the car for any reason other than proper sports car performance. walk back over to your PS3 and keep playing need for speed.

I think its a bit of a girls car in mainly stock trim. The new ones are well "aids"

It was a while ago but I remember reading about a blue one with a 13B turbo in it, now that is cool in my books.

But seriously most of the v8 and v6 drivers feel that anyingthing 4 cylinder is a poofs car anyway weather its turbo or not so there will always be haters.

Carbon vinyl looks good. Nice work with the car!

I think it is unisex - it is definitely a good car and heaps of guys drive them anyway. Check out the review on top gear - it is all good.
