Anyone know what dB levels for exhausts satisfy JASMA and how they measure them?
eg measured at X RPM and cannot exceed X dB.
Also will a 93dB exhaust be legal?
Thanks
This is the closest I've got (from Jasma website thanks to google translate)
We have started plate installing from 90. As a JASAM plate installing condition, it is the independent standard which this meeting decides, “JASMA standard” must be satisfied.
Presently, it is standardized to the plate the left. Individual registration number is indicated in every type and engine type of the automobile. To receive the register, it must measure automobile exhaust noise and must apply to association be sure. As application acceptance highest noise value, approach exhaust noise the front engine car 95db (A) rear engine car 98db (A) has become from 1998 noise regulation.
As for this standard 1998 noise regulation upper limit of approach exhaust noise differs to boundary. As (application highest noise value before the regulating 100db (A)) survey value is registered by association as a data, from association we can publish the data to the inspection place and the like of entire country and can feel at rest and can use at the time of vehicle inspection smooth taking an examination becomes possible.

No.
The ADR standard is going by what your car puts out. Not what the catback with Jasma requirements are. Various mods like dump/front will alter the noise volume.
Stock silvia exhaust measured under Jasma standards are around 88db.
