I was going to PM Kristian about this but thought it may help other people as well. I'm hoping to import an Evo 6 or 7 once i sell my R32, in the meantime i was browsing some of the cars available on goo-net. Are these cheap 6/6.5/7s suitable for import or at these prices would they have had repairs not suitable for SEVS compliance? I'd be using the car as a daily and weekend racer so not looking for something immaculate, rims/coilovers/exhaust would be a bonus.

139k Evo 6 TME

Evo 7s between 129 and 159.

Sorry, in Australia it would be written 1390k, in Japan its 139 man or something like that? 1.39 million yen anyway.

The damage is what I'd be most concerned about. That does seem damn cheap though.. Might want to check whether there are any fee's on top of that, and then of course deregistration, etc will cost you.

I'd say by the time you get an agent out to make sure they aren't damaged, and get it transported close to a port and what not it'll probably be around the same price as an auction car.

Just my guess though...

Yeah i expect you'd need to add 100000-130000 FOB costs on top of that.

1290000Y would be about $23500 plus tyres and rego.

^^ I estimated $24200 based on $3500 compliance, which is probably the cheapest you'll get it.

And I could almost guarantee it had had an accident, and I have my doubts about the kms too ;)

All of them? The TME is cheap but there's heaps of 6/7 at those prices.

Well the're around the right money, but auctions are still your best bet because you get an independent mechanical report on them. Always risky trusting a car dealer's description of a car ;)

Neil if you were looking for a cheapie and you are in no rush, why not just set a really low bid amount and just stick to it for a month or two?

I might do. Once i sell my R32 i'll have plenty of money to spend but i just want to get something for good value.

Yeah most of them have damage, if my kanji is up to scratch. My mechanic pointed out how to tell, I hope I was paying attention.

1st TME - damage repair
2nd evo6 - no damage repair
3rd evo6 - no damage repair
4th evo7 - damage repair
5th evo7 - damage repair
6th evo7 - damage repair
7th evo 7 - damage repair

Now to what extent it doesnt say. Again someone might be able to verify if all the above is true.

Yeah you're right, the google translator agrees. Unfortunately it doesn't give enough details of whether it was structural, etc.

dealer cars are expensive in Japan...

But most of their cars are clean.

If the cars they selling are cheap then they're most likely be &%#$

tons of variables...

the yen value is a big one.. not so relevant for a cheap car but once you're sending a decent sum to japan it's value begins to hit your hip pocket - that and the stamp duty in your state
