Round #3 is invite only but Drift Attack wouldn't be, both are at Calder Park...

Its good in a way that Round #3 is invite only, it cleans up the people only planning to enter Round #3 because its closer to home/havent drifted at calder which in turn stops people with actual skill who have entered in Round 1 & 2 and have shown consistency missing out on a possible spot because they weren't fast enough to the website.

Also should make Round #3 epic to watch since it has sifted out all the amateurs and the event should be left with purely skilled and competitive drivers.

The website says Drift Attack and Round #3 are on the same day, but in the 2012 Calendar thread they are on separate days.

I'm sure some company can give you a $500 donation to ease the total bill somehow in exchange for some exposure! You don't have long to organise it though!

So any tips on who a winner might be?? Top 4 tips?

Can the interstate drivers make it....(wow) four Drift Attacks in a row (Josh Coote/Leighton Fine/Jake Jones), or can the locals steal this back to the home town and restore some Victorian Pride?

there's not exactly a huge line of sponsors to put their business name on my car  i could tidy the car up for sponsors, but it would cost more to do so and maintain then what i'd get from them.

Round 1 of the GKTech VicDrift Championship was awesome! Beautiful Weather, a relaxed vibe and some fantastic battles! We just want to thank: all the drivers that turned up to put on a show, especially all the interstate guys for travelling out to Winton! Thanks to the Winton safety crew, the media contingent, all the volunteers, the Vicdrift crew, Marty from Mighty Car Mods, all our sponsors, the spectators who came out to support the event and Wheeltech for the on site tyre changing. Congrats to all the winners! Full event review via our mailing list soon. Can't wait for round 2!

$500 1st prize seems paltry considering that 60 entrants are paying a $229 entry fee each round.
That prize wouldn't even cover tyre expenses for any team :(

I think it seems pretty awesome considering if you win the first round of the ARC you get a trophy! or if you win a round of the Vic Rally Championship, you get a trophy, or you win many nationally televised championships you get...a trophy! (and most of those guys spend a lot more $$$$ than drifters at each event)

Prizemoney and $xxx vouchers thanks to GKTech and any other prizes need to be seen as a 'bonus' and drivers should feel lucky we are offering it. We as a club want to offer as much prizemoney as we can financially justify to help the drivers that do well but for this series with three rounds, we have to spread the prizemoney out over these three events PLUS $1,000 on top of each rounds prizemoney for the winner of the C'ship PLUS Drift Attack which will still be big prizemoney as it normally is! We have quite a few costs that make it difficult to offer any more and we never really make any money on comp days for the two facts of costs and prizemoney on offer. Over 2012 if you add it up, we will be offering a great sum of prizemoney and prizes back to drivers.

The exposure level is quite decent we feel at our events with dedicated photographers and videographers etc and we do our best to run an efficient, professionally managed event for those wishing to come over to a great track and compete against a high level field of other drivers from across the country.

I'm sure the drivers will agree it was a good day out with us out at Winton!

Thanks to gktech.com.au and all our sponsors for their support!

do sa comps have prize money? from what i remember vic is the only state to do prize money so i think its pretty darn good, as jos said its a bonus cause if your lucky enough to win basically your tyre bill gets paid for so its a bonus, plus some vouchers and shit doesnt hurt.
pretty sure even when DA was at full flight they didnt have any prize money for wins and that was state to state national comp with big kitted teams and expensive cars, huge entry costs and franchise buying so i think vic drift are doing pretty well for what they have to work with.

All 3 of our competitions have cash prizes, pretty sure Stadium Drift provides cash prizes in all their pro series too across Aus.

G1 stuff: http://www.mallala.c...ions%202012.pdf
DSC's prizes are upwards of 10k cash total.

btw not taking sides, doesn't really bother me either way lol, just saying.

ok so for G1 which has been going for a while now is only another $250 bucks for the win, this championship series vic drift are doing is new, that was the first event held and it didnt quite fill the spots so i guess they had to take that into account for prize money.
how ever the vic drift drift attack events which they have been doing and doing well for several years now has had up to a 5k prize money plus vouchers for the win, i guess im saying if the championsip series goes well and they can get more sponsors on board then possibly the prize money will go up next year.

Do you know how much money it cost to run an event like that, NO, then shut the F**K UP. Idiots like him only see the money coming in, but not going out.

Do you know how much drifters have to spend to attend such events?

do you know how much it costs to hire the track and everything else at the track required to actually put on the event?

honestly this is a stupid argument, you didn't win and probably won't win anytime soon so why the hell do you care what the winner gets?

too many whiners not enough shit stirrers. wheres pidwell
